Theater in the Bay Area
Home to more than 300 resident theater companies, from new-play repertories to acclaimed Shakespeare festivals to Broadway touring houses, the Bay Area loves the performing arts. The Bay Area theater community is both large enough to be nationally noticed and intimate enough to ensure that you'll soon be a familiar face. Actors in the Bay Area are welcome and involved at all levels of the entertainment industry, constantly developing contacts, attending auditions and industry gatherings, and frequently making the successful transition to thriving theatrical and cinematic careers.
A.C.T.'s classroom/studios are closely integrated with A.C.T.'s administrative offices and rehearsal spaces, providing students the opportunity to interact with working artists and theater professionals on a daily basis. A short walk from A.C.T.'s Union Square location, students can explore the theater district, the museums and parks of the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Chinatown, North Beach, and the newly developed Embarcadero waterfront.
